What is Mindfulness?

It’s a special way of paying attention to what we’re experiencing, whether it’s sights, sounds, thoughts, emotions, or our body. We develop this attention by working with these different modes of sensory input.

But don’t get caught up in the descriptions – mindfulness can only be grasped experientially.

Paying attention in a special way? That seems simple, even simplistic. How could training our attention be such a big deal?

Well, this is the backbone of mindfulness meditation, the form of meditation that has sparked a revolution in the West.
