What is Mindfulness?

It’s a special way of paying attention to what we’re experiencing, whether it’s sights, sounds, thoughts, emotions, or our body. We develop this attention by working with these different modes of sensory input.

But don’t get caught up in the descriptions – mindfulness can only be grasped experientially.

Paying attention in a special way? That seems simple, even simplistic. How could training our attention be such a big deal?

Well, this is the backbone of mindfulness meditation, the form of meditation that has sparked a revolution in the West.

Meditation has gone mainstream. It’s now a clinical and therapeutic tool with firm scientific evidence proving its efficacy. And many ordinary people are discovering that they can’t live without it.

Here’s a quick summary of the benefits of meditation in beginners and in long-term practitioners.

One Last Thing: You Must Commit to This

Guess what the main barrier to meditative progress is? It’s not the technique, it’s not the teacher, and it’s not lack of talent or time.

The main barrier is simply lack of persistence.

I like to say that reward is proportional to challenge. When it comes to mindfulnes, this means that if you want to glimpse the power of it, you must be prepared to do the work.

These are tried-and-tested methods for inner transformation. Don’t overthink it. Be persistent, and you’ll get the rewards.

As such, I ask that you commit to practicing every day for the duration of the course and that you attend every meeting. This is how you’ll glimpse the power of the work we’re doing together.

Put in the time and energy. Make the investment. It’ll be very worth it.
